On board the SpaceLand zero-gravity / Lunar-gravity / Mars-gravity Research & Educational Flight Missions on parabolic flight several top-level science institutions have commissioned cutting-edge experiments; inter alia:
  • Bio-Engineering Department of Milan’s Don Gnocchi Foundation
  • Istituto Superiore di Sanità” of Rome
  • Pharmacology Department of the University of Milan
  • Italian State Research Center “CNR"
  • European Brain Research Institute - Foundation “Rita Levi Montalcini  (Nobel Prize for Life Sciences)

Such experiments have largely demonstrated the added-values, both scientifically and industrially, of life-sciences & pharmaceutical research in weightlessness w.r.t. standard ground-based laboratories where gravity force the in-vitro cells to a behaviour completely different to the behaviour of in-vivo cell coltures.

A potentially huge advantage exists for those researchers and pharma-industries which might conceive a R&D and test plan in weightlessness, in terms of

  • much higher fidelity for the planned R,D & Test activities
  • much faster growth of coltures and samples (e.c. cells and bio-matter, crystals)

Such an industrial advantage is particularly evident for macromolecular compounds, vaccines and stem-cells-based therapies which on the ground are negatively influenced by the Earth’s gravity force

Unprecedented scenarios for the future of pharmacology opens up in weightlessness through the low-cost SpaceLand R,D&Test flight campaigns (60 days from contractual order to take-off & landing), in particular for

o        tissue transplant

o        therapies against cancer, brain degenerative syndroms (e.g. Alzheimer), osteoporosis and bone demineralization, neurovestibular pathologies, immune-system syndroms and pathologies

On board the SpaceLand flights even an 11-yr-old kid, a 93 yr-old man and a 100% disabled woman have operated as test subjects or test operators, proving the unprecedented user-friendliness of the SpaceLand training and flight operation system for research, development and qualification tests in weightlessness

All recent results from the experiments carried out with the 11-yr-old kid by Doct. Eng. Carlo Viberti's crew for the Istituto Superiore di Sanità” of Rome and European Brain Research Institute - Foundation “Rita Levi Montalcini  (Nobel Prize for Life Sciences) shall be presented by Dr. Santucci at the SpaceLand Expo-Congress on Sept. 21 - 22 in Sardinia as per program details on the main page of www.SpaceLand.it
